QUALIFICATION COMPLETED OUTSIDE FINLAND
You can apply with a degree or qualification completed in another country than Finland. The qualification must give eligibility for higher education in the awarding country.
You may not apply to UAS degree programmes using a polytechnic/UAS or a university degree. You should apply using a high school / senior secondary / upper secondary school certificate.
Discretionary admission is applied in the Degree Programme in International Business and in the Degree Programme in Nursing. You may apply if you complete your qualification and receive a school leaving certificate with final grades by 31 July 2013.
To demonstrate eligibility for UAS studies, you must provide the attachments mentioned below. All copies of certificates and authorized translations of them must be posted or delivered to the Admissions Office at the UAS of your first choice by the designated deadline. Scanned or faxed copies are not accepted. If you use the online application, you are given an applicant code. Please write down the code to the copies, this will help the Admissions Office to process your attachments.
If you are NOT a citizen of an EU/EEA country:
1. A copy of the original educational certificate
- If you have already completed the education you use for applying: Please send a copy of the original educational certificate to the Admissions Office of your first choice of UAS by 22 February 2013 at 16.15 Finnish time (+2 GMT).
UASs only accept final certificates granted by national and regional bodies, which have the right to grant educational certificates. Therefore, various other documents, such as Testimonials, Statements of Results, Examination Results or Result Slips, are not considered official certificates. Please note that if you have a scratch card, it is advisable to attach the card to your final certificate.
- If you complete your qualification and receive a school leaving certificate with final grades by 31 July 2013: Please contact the Admissions Office at Seinäjoki UAS during the application period if you wish to be considered for DISCRETIONARY ADMISSION.
A copy of the school leaving certificate with final grades and an authorized translation of it must be delivered by 31 July 2013 at 16.15 Finnish time at the latest. The admission is conditional until the final certificate and the translation has been checked.
2. Official Translation
In addition, a copy of an authorized Finnish, Swedish or English translation of the certificate must be provided, if the certificate is not written in one of these languages. Authorized translations must include the signature and the stamp of the translator.
3. Proof of your English language skills
You need to send required proof of your English language skills to the Admissions Office of your first preference by 22 February 2013. You must provide one of the minimum requirements presented on English Language skills. Register for an English language test as soon as possible, if needed!
Citizens of an EU/EEA country
1. A copy of the original educational certificate
If you have graduated from upper secondary school in 2012 or before: Please send a copy of your educational certificate to the Admissions Office of your first choice of UAS by 22 February 2013 at 16.15 Finnish time. The UAS will then decide on your eligibility for all options indicated on the application.
If you will graduate from upper secondary school in 2013: You are permitted to apply if you complete your studies during the spring/summer 2013 at the latest. If you are admitted you need to provide a copy of your final certificate (and translation) by 31 July 2013 at 16.15 Finnish time.
2. Official Translation

3. English language skills
