Ähtäri in Brief

The Forestry department of the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, School of Agriculture and Forestry is located in Tuomarniemi, Ähtäri. Ähtäri is located in the east part of South Ostrobothnia, 80 km from the City of Seinäjoki. The population is about 7000 inhabitants and its total area is 906 km². It is surrounded by lakes and large forest wilderness areas.

The townscape of the centre of Ähtäri is very clear. Almost all basic services can be found on the one main street. Supermarkets, special shops, the post office, banks, and restaurants have a very central position on Otsolantie street. The hospital and the health centre are situated a bit apart, but following the informative signposts, you should find them without problems. At the health centre, there is a doctor on duty, as well as a dental clinic.
