Registration as a student and Study Entitlement

A student continuing their studies

  • A student continuing their studies shall register as a student for the whole academic year at a time between 1 March - 31 May using the student interface WinhaWille.
  • The registration data can be changed for a well-founded reason during the registration period (1 March - 31 May) or during the change of semesters (1 November- 31 December)
  • The registration period for the spring term is 1 November - 31 December (does not apply to those who have already enrolled for the whole academic year)
  • A student who has been granted a discretionary extended time to complete his/her studies is not allowed to enrol for non-attendance.

A student can change his registration also one time after the registration period (between 1.6. - 31.7.) by contacting student services. Change attendance to non-attentendance can only made with reasons defined in law (Service under the Conscription Act (1438/2007), Non-Military Service Act (1446/2007), or Act on Women's Voluntary Military Service (194/1995); maternity, paternity or parental leave and in case the student cannot begin studies due to being incapacitated by personal illness or injury).

 

Duty to enrol

According to the law on Polytechnic Studies (L255/1995, L583/2001) the student must enrol for attendance or non-attendance for each academic year. The duty to enrol applies to all students studying in an education leading to a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a university of applied sciences. A student who does not register by the designated time, will lose their study entitlement. A student who has lost her/his study entitlement, will receive an automatic Email within two days notifying that the user ID will be deactivated within seven days. (Access to Email, WinhaWille and other interfaces of SeAMK will be denied.)

The student may apply for the restitution of the study entitlement. The application processing fee is 50 Euros (A1440/2014, 3 §).

Study Entitlement

Restitution of the Right to Study

Degree students who have lost their right to study may apply to have their right restituted to allow them time to complete their studies. A fee of 50 euros is charged for the processing of the application (A1440/2014, 3§). There are two cases when a restitution of the right to study can be applied for.​

A) Re-registration

Students who have missed the registration date for the academic year/semester, can apply re-registration. The application processing fee is 50 euros (A1440/2014, 3 §).

When you submit form, you will be forwarded to the online payment service. You cannot submit the application without paying.

As a rule, registration is active from the beginning of the month, you made the application.

B) Suspended studies

If your right to study has expired, you can apply to have your study right restituted. Before submitting the application you must have had a meeting with your student counsellor or tutor teacher to formulate a practicable plan for completing your degree. The application processing fee is 50 euros (A1440/2014, 3 §).

When you submit form, you will be forwarded to the online payment service. You cannot submit the application without paying.

Students who have incomplete coursework amounting to no more than 60 credits (bachelor's degree) or no more than 40 credits (master's degree). The right to study can be granted from the beginning of the month, you made the application. The right to study can be granted for a period of 1 year at the most, if you don't have study right left anymore. Additional information can be found in the Degree Regulations at intra. The decision could made not until August, because of holiday season.

Notice of withdrawal

 If you want to withdrawal from Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, please use the form below. Students who have withdrawn, lose their right to study at the UAS beginning the date you announce. After withdrawal you will have leaving certificate and transcript of records of your studies by mail to address you gave this form. If there any grades missing, please contact proper teacher and ask new transcript of records from student services (studentservices(a)seamk.fi) after every grades are recorded. Please remember cancel the study grants you have applied for and return the property of school (parking card, pass, keys etc.) back.
