International Opportunities in Studies
Internationalisation is one of the priorities at the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK). Student as well as teacher, professor and staff exchanges are actively promoted, and a social programme is arranged for international students throughout the academic year. The institution has about 160 partner universities in Europe and 40 on other continents.
Studies in English
SeAMK has three degree programmes and several shorter programmes totally taught in English. Studies in English are available for Finnish and international degree and exchange students.

– Bachelor Degree Programme in Nursing
– Master Degree Programme in International Business Management
Double degree programmes in the fields of business and engineering with partner universities in China, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Lithuania and Spain.
Annually 50% of students of SeAMK study abroad from one week to one year and about 250 incoming mobile students of about 30 different nationalities study at SeAMK. SeAMK hosts an international week, summer school, international conferences and international seminars annually.
Student and Staff Mobility
Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences has about 200 partner institutions all over the world; almost in 50 different countries. Half of the students of Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences study abroad from one week to one year. Yearly 150 students study abroad for a longer period: one semester or more.
Annually half of all staff members work abroad. Yearly around 150 visiting professors and lecturers from the partner institutions come to SeAMK. Academic exchange works on the basis of reciprocity.
SeAMK organizes orientation days for incoming and outgoing students annually as well as extra curricular activities for its international students throughout the year.
Erasmus Charter 2014-2020
Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences was awarded an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2014-2020 by the European Commission.
The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) provides the general quality framework for European and international cooperation activities a higher education institution (HEI) may carry out within the new Erasmus+ Programme in 2014-2020. The award of an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education is a pre-requisite for all HEIs located in an eligible country and willing to participate in learning mobility of individuals and/or cooperation for innovation and good practices under the Erasmus+ Programme.
Only the Charter holders can apply for funding from the EU-programmes and make the Inter-Institutional Agreements with other HEI’s in eligible countries. Student and staff mobility within the Europe continues to be an important part of the programme; student and staff members of SeAMK can apply for grants for the Erasmus-mobility.
Annually, about 500 students of SeAMK conduct a part of their studies abroad, and the same number of international degree and mobility students study at SeAMK. About half of the staff members work abroad every year and SeAMK hosts approximately 200 international lecturers and researches annually. During the past Erasmus- programme 2007-2013, SeAMK got over 2 million euros for the Erasmus mobility activities.

Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS)
Erasmus Policy Statement (EPS) sets out the overall Erasmus co-operation plan of the institution. It specifies the measures and actions the institution intends to introduce in order to fulfil the principles of the Erasmus University Charter. This concerns notably the Erasmus activities, such as involvement in student and teaching staff mobility, student placements, and the participation in Erasmus centralised actions (multilateral projects, networks and accompanying measures).
