Mobility

At Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences, we encourage everyone to go on a shorter or longer international study, practical training, teacher or staff exchange. International mobility enables you to learn about different cultures and learning and teaching methods and provides not only practical skills but also professional development.

Student mobility

A significant part of SEAMK students study abroad at some point in their education. The options for studying abroad vary, from week-long intensive courses to year-long exchanges, for example, through double degree programmes. Students have the opportunity to complete international studies at nearly 200 partner universities. SEAMK also offers English-taught exchange programmes in various fields, where students from SEAMK’s partner universities can come to study.

Teacher and staff mobility

Students are not the only ones seeking international experience from different parts of the world. Teachers and staff have increasingly headed for short-term stays abroad. The destination for these is usually the higher education institutions in Europe. During these stays, teachers and staff have become acquainted with the operations of our partner universities. At the same time, they have adopted local teaching methods and aspects related to the teaching culture. SEAMK also welcomes teachers and other staff from its partner universities.

Erasmus+ programme

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s mobility and cooperation programme, which supports international cooperation between higher education institutions and the mobility of students, teachers, and other staff. Most of SEAMK’s international mobility is carried out with Erasmus+ programme grants.

Erasmus+ Without Paper (EWP)

The European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) is part of the European Commission’s broader vision for the European Higher Education Area, which aims to increase and facilitate student mobility. The purpose of the ESCI initiative is to digitize the documentation and management of international mobility processes and enable electronic identification of students and digital transfer of information between higher education institutions.

One of the extensive measures of the European Student Card Initiative (ESCI) is Erasmus Without Paper (EWP). It is a digital solution developed for higher education institutions, enabling them to integrate their mobility management systems and transfer mobility-related information using the EWP interface.

The development of EWP processes and functions at SeAMK started a few years ago and active development continues. SeAMK’s International Education Services closely monitor the progress of the initiative and aim to adopt digital processes as systems and interfaces allow.

SeAMK uses the mobility management system SoleMove, which serves as the interface platform for SeAMK’s Erasmus Without Paper (EWP) network. Currently, the SoleMove system manages Inter-Institutional Agreements (IIA) between higher education institutions, applications for incoming and outgoing mobilities, and Digital Learning Agreements.
