SeAMK Application with Open UAS studies will be organised in the spring application period at Studyinfo.fi website. This application is for students who have completed studies at an Open UAS in a university of applied sciences in Finland and are applying to become degree students.

You can apply to the following degree programmes at SeAMK in the Application with Open UAS Studies. SeAMK Application with Open UAS Studies application period is organised at Studyinfo.fi website. Application time starts on 29 April at 8.00 and ends on 10 May at 15.00 Finnish time (UTC+3).

  • Eligibility for a bachelor programme

    You need to have at least 45 bachelor-level ECTS credits completed in Open UAS (avoin AMK) in a university of applied sciences in Finland.

    Study options:

    Required bachelor-level ECTS credits

    You are eligible to apply, if you have at least 45 bachelor-level ECTS credits completed in Open UAS (avoin AMK) in a university of applied sciences in Finland. Only studies with a passing grade that are suitable to the degree programme one is applying to, are taken into consideration.

    Studies completed as a degree student, in specialisation studies, in open university or outside Finland will not be accepted.

    Required attachments

    Upload an official up-to-date transcript of records from your open UAS studies to the application form by 17.5.2024, 15.00 so that the initial decision on your eligibility can be made. If you have completed Open UAS studies in SeAMK, you do not need to add the transcript to the application form if all of your study credits can be seen from the student register Peppi.

    If you are admitted you need to upload an official up-to-date transcript of records to the application form by 31.7.2024, 15.00.

    Please note, if you’ve completed studies via campus online, your studies may not be available and be seen via peppi. In this case, you are required to attach a copy of a transcript of records from studies completed in another university of applied sciences.

    Requirements on health and functional capacity

    The so-called SORA legislation applies to education leading to a UAS degree in the fields of social services and health care. These fields have requirements concerning the safety of minors, patient and client safety or traffic safety which restrict student admission. In these fields, it is required that health and functional capacity of approved applicants are such that they are able to take part in the practical assignments or training relating to studies.

    Finnish language skill requirements

    When applying to SeAMK Bachelor Degree Programme in Nursing you must have at least skills level A2 in Finnish language: Self-assessment grid – Table 2 (CEFR 3.3) : Common Reference levels (coe.int).

    You can demonstrate your Finnish language skills according to one of the following options:

    • Matriculation examination completed in Finnish
    • Matriculation examination in Finnish language as mother tongue or Finnish as second national language test, passed. (Grade Approbatur (A)).
    • Matriculation examination in Finnish language, advanced syllabus passed. (Grade Approbatur (A)).
    • Matriculation examination in Finnish language, intermediate syllabus, passed. (Grade Approbatur (A)).
    • Basic education certificate or general upper secondary education certificate completed in Finnish or completion of Finnish as mother tongue in basic education or upper secondary school (Grade ‘pass’).
    • Vocational upper secondary qualification completed in Finnish.
    • Further vocational qualification or specialist vocational qualification completed in Finnish.
    • Other qualification that provides eligibility for higher education studies completed in Finnish.
    • Higher education degree completed in Finnish.
    • National Certificate of Language Proficiency in Finnish (YKI), passed in level 2 – 6.

  • Eligibility for a master programme

    You can apply for the Master Degree Programme if you have: 1. The required master-level ECTS credits and 2. Higher education degree and 3. Required work experience.

    Eligibility for a master programme

    You can apply for the Master Degree Programme if you have:

    1. The required master-level ECTS credits and
    2. Higher education degree and
    3. Required work experience

    Required ECTS Credits

    You need to have at least 15 master-level ECTS credits completed in Open UAS in a university of applied sciences in Finland. Only studies with a passing grade that are suitable to the degree programme one is applying to, are taken into consideration. Studies completed as a degree student, in specialisation studies, in open university or outside Finland will not be accepted.

    Required Higher Education Degree

    You also need to have a higher education degree completed in Finland or outside Finland. If your degree qualification is not available at the Finnish SURE-register, please attach a copy of your degree certificate to your application form.

    Required Work Experience

    You need to have at least two years (24 months) of work experience after completing the higher education degree. Applicants must upload an employer’s work certificate to the application form.

Important dates in the admission process

If the degree programme conducts an interview as a part of the admission process, the interviews will be held between 29.-31.5.2024
The admission results will be published 14.6.2024
The credits need to be registered on the transcript of records and the required documents must be uploaded to the application form by 31.7.2024

Admission results and required documents

Admission results will be published 14.6.2024 at My Studyinfo service. Also an email will be sent to all applicants. Admitted applicants must confirm to accept the study place, register as a student by 31.7.2024, 15.00 at the latest. If you don’t accept the study place by the designated deadline, you will lose it. When you accept the study place, you also need to register for the academic year 2024-2025 for attendance or non-attendance.

Please note that a first year student can register as non-attending only on the following legal grounds:

  1. completion of military service or civilian service in Finland
  2. maternity leave, paternity leave or parental leave or
  3. if you are unable to begin your studies due to illness or disability.

If you register for non-attendance, you must prove the legal grounds for your absence. Documents proving the legal grounds for your absence must be submitted to the SeAMK Admission Services by 11.7.2024, 15.00 at the latest. The student’s own notification is not an adequate clarification. The documents must be submitted in Finnish, Swedish or English.

Documents that prove the legal grounds for your non-attendance:

  1. service under the Conscription Act (1438/2007), Non-Military Service Act (1446/2007), or Act on Women’s Voluntary Military Service (194/1995): Call-up order
  2. maternity, paternity or parental leave: Kela’s certificate regarding maternity, paternity or parental allowance period or, if the certificate has not yet been received, a medical certificate regarding the pregnancy. Corresponding certificates from the authorities of other countries regarding statutory parental leave.
  3. the student cannot begin studies due to being incapacitated by personal illness or injury: Sickness allowance decision or, if no decision exists, a medical certificate. The medical certificate must state which illness or injury the student suffers from, and that this condition prevents the student from beginning their studies.

Student admission is conditional

The student admission is conditional until the information given on the application form and the transcript of records of applicants have been verified. Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences will withdraw the admission, if the applicant has not completed the required number of study credits within the stipulated time or the applicant has given false information in the application process.

Tuition fees

Non-EU/EEA citizens are charged tuition fees as follows:

  • Bachelor degree programmes conducted in English: 9500 € per academic year
  • Master degree programmes conducted in English: 11 500 € per academic year

There is an early-bird scholarship for the first year students at SeAMK. Early-bird scholarship will concern students admitted in 2024. Early-bird scholarship is 10 % of the tuition fee. Early-bird scholarship in a Bachelor degree programme is 950 € in the first academic year.

The early-bird scholarship is available for the students, who will:

  • accept the study place offered by SeAMK within 7 days of notice of admission and
  • pay the tuition fee within 28 days of notice of admission and
  • register as an attending student for the first academic year.

One study place per term provision

According to this provision, a student may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland in education that begins in the same academic term. The academic term is either autumn term 1 August–31 December OR spring term 1 January–31 July. Further information about one study place per term provision on Studyinfo website. 

Request for rectification

If you believe that there has been a mistake in the student selection and the admission criteria have not been applied correctly, please see the admission criteria of the specific study option at SeAMK first. After this, contact SeAMK Admission Services. If the matter is not solved, you can do a written request for rectification regarding the decision on student admission. Any such request must make clear the grounds for the request. The request must include personal details and contact information of the applicant. Supporting documents, if any, must be attached to the request. The request for rectification regarding student admission of a study option at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences must be submitted by 26.6.2024, 15.00 at the latest.
