SEAMK’s Senior Specialist Suvi Karirinne Appointed as Coordinating Expert for EU CAP Network Focus Group FG58
Suvi Karirinne, Senior Specialist at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SEAMK), has been appointed as the Coordinating Expert for the EU CAP Network Focus Group FG58: Innovative on-farm energy production systems. Karirinne has over 20 years of experience in renewable energy systems and circular economy projects. She has extensive expertise in coordinating EU-funded projects, fostering international collaboration, and leading multidisciplinary teams.
What is the EU CAP Network?
The EU CAP Network supports the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) across Europe. It promotes innovation, knowledge exchange, and the dissemination of best practices among farmers, advisors, researchers, and other stakeholders.
What does FG58 do?
FG58 addresses innovative on-farm energy production systems, and group’s goal is to develop resilient, locally adapted, and farmer-driven solutions that support the energy transition, enhance energy autonomy, and strengthen rural vitality. This work aligns with the EU’s climate and energy targets and builds on insights from previous EIP-AGRI Focus Groups.
“The aim of FG58 is to find practical solutions that enable farms to produce energy sustainably and strengthen regional self-sufficiency. I’m excited to bring RDI work, and farmers’ everyday practices together into concrete actions,” says Suvi Karirinne.
“Suvi’s appointment is also highly significant from the perspective of Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. The appointment supports our focus areas, which emphasize sustainable development, the green transition, and the vitality of rural areas. International expert positions of this kind strengthen SEAMK’s role in European RDI cooperation and bring new expertise and networks to the region,” says Vice Rector Elina Varamäki.
The Focus Group will work for approximately one year, resulting in a final report to be published on the EU CAP Network website.
