The international business transfer project promotes business acquisitions in six countries

The REBTES project, coordinated by SEAMK, namely Developing Regional SME Business Transfer Ecosystems, started in early May. The goal of the Interreg Europe-funded project is to develop regional business transfer ecosystems by influencing policy instruments related to the theme.

– The success of business transfers for SMEs is often dependent on buyers and sellers finding each other, says Project Manager Anmari Viljamaa.

– According to the latest Business transfer barometer, it is estimated that 33,000 entrepreneurs are looking to sell their businesses by 2034, so it is not a small matter.

The project involves nine partners and two associated partners from Finland, Croatia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Ukraine, and Belgium. In Finland, the project area is South Ostrobothnia, and the partners are SEAMK and the South Ostrobothnia Regional Council.

New operating models to support businesses created through good practices and cooperation

The project’s activities focus on sharing information and learning best practices to support SME business transfers. The best practices are collected and shared for others to use. Through extensive information sharing and cooperation, new operating models can be created to support SME business transfers.

– In Finland and South Ostrobothnia, many good practices have been developed over the years, which we get to share with others in this project, Viljamaa explains. – The national Business Transfer Forum and its South Ostrobothnian counterpart are examples of such practices.

Each project partner creates a local ecosystem network to increase regional interest in supporting business transfers and ensure the continuity of the project’s actions.

The ultimate goal of the project is to achieve sustainable results to support local businesses and economies.

The total budget of the four-year project is 1.49 million euros, of which SEAMK’s share is 330,000 euros.
