Learning environments
Facilities and environments designed for learning and research enable high-quality teaching and support students’ development on their path towards a degree and working life. Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences has over 20 different learning and research environments. These include laboratories, studios, simulation facilities, a teaching farm and an educational restaurant.
The educational restaurant Prikka(Opens in a new window) serves as an excellent example of a learning environment that prepares students for working life. At Prikka, students act as producers: they prepare and serve meals, while also taking responsibility for broader operational aspects. When working in supervisory roles, students have the opportunity to lead other team members and to plan elements such as food themes. Prikka therefore offers a wide range of tasks, from food preparation to customer service.
Practice-oriented learning in authentic environments
Our students develop practical skills in authentic learning environments, where they can experiment, research, create and analyse tasks and projects related to their field of study. Students have access to a diverse range of equipment and software, enabling them not only to complete their assignments but also to familiarise themselves with the tools and programmes used in working life already during their studies. In this way, the learning environments provide an excellent opportunity to prepare for professional roles after graduation.
Our facilities and equipment have received national and international recognition. We continuously develop our environments to meet the demands of working life and to enable the creation of new methods, products and services. Companies and organisations have also seized the opportunity to utilise SEAMK’s learning environments. The facilities and equipment are used in particular for staff training, organisational development, projects and new innovations. Our experts support the use of the learning environments, enabling not only larger projects but also the implementation of tailored solutions and individual ideas.
