Career opportunities with a nursing degree
Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SEAMK) offers an inspiring TopUp Nursing programme for healthcare professionals who already hold a Bachelor of Healthcare, Nursing degree completed outside the EU/EEA.
The Bachelor Degree Programme in Nursing provides the means for the student to receive a Registered Nurse (RN) degree. A Registered Nurse graduating from SEAMK has the competencies to act as an expert of nursing in various fields of work in health care, to work in cooperation with the clients and their next of kins, as well as in multi-professional teams.
Estimated time for your studies is 1.5–2 -years, depending on your previous nursing degree. At the beginning of your studies, you and your tutor teacher will prepare an individual study plan in which your previous studies are recognised.
The studies combine theory and practice, including:
- Clinical competence in medication and fluid therapy
- Nursing studies across various fields
- Finnish health and social care system and work culture
- Professional interaction in Finnish language
- Clinical placements in diverse healthcare settings
- Advanced nursing studies
- Bachelor’s thesis
The studies are conducted bilingually in the English and Finnish languages. The Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach is used to support the development of Finnish language skills. This enables students to work in Finnish health care after graduation.
In accordance to the European Union directives this programme includes theoretical studies, hands-on laboratory training, simulation-based learning, and supervised clinical training.
Registered Nurses are able to develop their work and profession in a responsible manner using evidence-based information and critical thinking. The RN profession is a highly respected worldwide.

The SEAMK Campus is located in the Frami area of the city of Seinäjoki. There students from all faculties of SEAMK can interact and enjoy one of the most modern and beautiful campuses in Finland.
