Alumni pathway

The Alumni pathway provides graduating Bachelor’s degree students at SEAMK with a smooth transition towards further studies. During the pathway, students complete Master School studies free of charge through the Open University of Applied Sciences. Students may enrol in the Alumni pathway within one year after graduating from SEAMK. The Alumni pathway enables a seamless progression from a Bachelor’s degree towards Master’s (YAMK) studies.

The first application period will open in May 2026!

Why choose the Alumni pathway?

During the Alumni pathway, the student can accumulate the two years of work experience required for Master’s (YAMK) degree eligibility and progress towards a higher university degree. In Master’s studies, the student engages in genuine work‑life–oriented development projects, creating a strong link between the early stages of their career and their YAMK studies. Through the Alumni pathway, students also have the opportunity to build professional networks with other Master’s students and strengthen their own expertise. The studies completed during the Alumni pathway can be accredited towards the YAMK degree.

Progressing in the Alumni pathway

1. Enrolment

Enrolment in the Alumni pathway is possible flexibly throughout the year. Enrolment takes place in SEAMK’s Continuous Learning online store. The Alumni pathway can be started within one year of the student’s graduation with a Bachelor’s degree (AMK) from SEAMK.

2. Studying in the Alumni pathway

At the beginning of the Alumni pathway, the student has a guidance discussion with Master School’s Study Counsellor to map out the studies to be completed during the pathway, taking into account the student’s individual background and needs. The student receives guidance in choosing a suitable Master’s (YAMK) degree and studies that support the start of their career.

The studies begin according to the personal study plan prepared jointly by the student and the Study Counsellor. The Alumni pathway studies must be completed within two years of graduation from the Bachelor’s degree. The aim is that the student completes at least one course per semester.

The study plan for the Alumni pathway can also be updated during the pathway.

3. Applying for degree studies through a separate admission

After completing the Alumni pathway and accumulating two years of relevant work experience, the student may apply for SEAMK’s Master’s degree studies through the Application with Open UAS Studies (separate admission process: Application with Open UAS Studies | SEAMK.fi). The available study options and admission criteria for the application are published in Studyinfo.

Other important information

The studies are completed as Open University of Applied Sciences studies. They are free of charge for SeAMK Alumni. Open UAS studies are part‑time studies and therefore do not entitle students to financial aid, student loans, or student discounts.
