Polku Pathway studies at SEAMK
Polku Pathway studies refer to the first-year courses of degree programmes that are completed as Open University of Applied Sciences Studies. Polku Pathway studies are suitable for you if your goal is to become a degree student at SEAMK. Read more about path studies and enrolment!
What are Polku Pathway studies?
- Polku Pathway Studies offer the opportunity to complete the first-year studies before applying for a place as a degree student.
- The fee for a Polku student is 300 €. Master level Polku studet fee is 150 €.
- In Polku Pathway studies, you study together with SEAMK’s degree student group and complete exactly the same courses in the same way as degree students. The studies may include contact teaching, online teaching, or both. Please read the information carefully before registering. Check especially the teaching language (most of our Polku studies are conducted in Finnish only).
- A Finnish personal identity code is required for enrolment.
- Bachelor’s level Polku Pathway studies (AMK) are open to everyone. Master’s Polku Pathway studies (YAMK) require a suitable higher education degree.
- Enrolment for Polku Pathway studies starting in the autumn takes place in August, and for studies starting in the spring in December. Enrolment is done in the SEAMK Continuous Learning online store.

Polku Pathway step-by-step
Enrolment for Polku Pathway studies takes place in the SEAMK Continuous Learning online store: Polku Pathway Studies – Seinäjoen ammattikorkeakoulu. Enrolment for studies starting in the autumn is held in August, and for studies staring in the spring, the enrolment is in December. Please note that places are available for both full-time and multimodal implementations. When enrolling, make sure to carefully select the group you wish to join.
How to enrol step-by-step:
- Explore the study offering at Polku Pathway Studies – Seinäjoen ammattikorkeakoulu and add the study option you are interested in to your study basket.
- Click the Enroll in all button in your study basket to access the enrolment form. Enrolment requires strong authentication and acceptance of the cancellation terms.
- When enrolling, select “I’ll enroll for the studies” as the enrolment type. If you register for Master’s-level (YAMK) studies, attach proof of your completed degree to your enrolment.
Enrolments are accepted in the order indicated by SEAMK’s enrolment system. An enrolment confirmation will be sent to the email address you have provided on the enrolment form. If the group is full, the registrant will receive an email informing them of a place on the waiting list. Should a place become available, those on the waiting list will be notified by email. Therefore, it is important to monitor your email closely!
Once your enrolment has been processed, you will receive a confirmation message and a payment link by email. The study fee for a Polku student is 300 €. Master level Polku studet fee is 150 €.
Your enrolment becomes binding once you have paid the study fee. You must pay the fee within three days. If the fee is not paid on time, the enrolment will be cancelled and the study place will be offered to another applicant.

After your enrollment has been accepted and the study fee has been paid, you will receive a confirmation message by email. Please remember to check your email regularly! If you do not receive the confirmation message, check your spam folder. If you still cannot find the message, please contact jatkuva.oppiminen@seamk.fi.
Please note that Polku Pathway studies are carried out alongside the degree student group starting at SEAMK. After the enrollment period has ended, students admitted to Polku Pathway studies will receive a study information letter by email, indicating when and where the studies will begin. Additional details regarding the start of studies may be sent only close to the starting date.
The right to study in Polku Pathway studies is granted for two consecutive semesters. The study right cannot be extended or transferred to later semesters.
In Open UAS Polku Pathway studies, students study together with the degree student group starting at SEAMK. The studies may include both on-campus teaching and online learning. You can explore our degree programmes and their modes of delivery on each programme’s webpage:

Completing Open UAS Polku Pathway studies does not lead directly to admission as a degree student. After completing Polku Pathway studies, students may apply for degree studies through the Application with Open UAS Studies, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. Studies completed during the Polku Pathway studies can be accredited and included in later degree studies.
Important information
Open University of Applied Sciences studies do not lead to a degree. For this reason, students of the Open UAS are not entitled to student financial aid, student discounts or other student benefits intended for degree students.
