What is a double degree?

Student healthcare services for degree and international double degree students in universities of applied sciences starting 1 January 2021
There will be a change in student health care services in the universities of applied sciences in Finland. Starting from 1 January 2021, the Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS /in Finnish: YTHS) will provide student healthcare services for all higher education degree and double degree students. The students will see these changes in the form of new service channels and a wider range of remote and digital services. According to the legislation, all registered and attending students who are completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree, or a double degree, are obligated to pay an FSHS fee.
Healthcare fee for students in higher education starting 1 January 2021
The FSHS fee must be paid every semester from the acceptance to graduation from SeAMK. This means that a student must pay the fee until graduating from SeAMK, even after returning to one’s home university.
The FSHS offers equal student healthcare services for all degree and double degree students in universities of applied sciences. You can find more information on student healthcare services on the FSHS’s website.
A healthcare fee for higher education students is paid to Kela, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland. Starting in 2021, students who are entitled to use the services of FSHS will pay a healthcare fee to Kela. No bill will be sent for the healthcare fee, and thus the student must pay the fee on his or her own initiative.
Kela will begin to collect the healthcare fee in the spring term of 2021. The healthcare fee can be paid via the e-service of Kela starting from December 2020.
Up-to-date information on the healthcare fee for higher education students and its payment is available on the FSHS’s website.
