The programme description in Studyinfo provides an overview of the content and delivery methods of the education offered at SEAMK.

Under the “Study programmes available for application” section, you will find more detailed information about each programme in the “Supplementary Application” subsection. The programme information includes details such as the number of available study places. By clicking “Read admission criteria”, you can find further information on eligibility requirements, admission criteria, and any required supporting documents.

Please read all instructions and information carefully before completing the application form.

Please note that in order to be eligible in this application period, you must have completed prior upper secondary or higher education in Finland.

Eligible applicants have completed at least one of these in Finland:

• the studies required for graduating from the Finnish upper secondary school or a Matriculation Examination;
• an International Baccalaureate (IB) degree completed in Finland and/or graduated from IB high school in Finland;
• a European Baccalaureate (EB) Diploma completed in Finland;
• a Reifeprüfung (RP) or Deutsches Internationales Abitur (DIA) degree completed in Finland;
• a Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification covering 120 credits or 180 competence points or a corresponding earlier Finnish vocational degree covering at least 80 credits;
• a Finnish post-secondary or higher vocational level diploma;
• a Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification or a further or specialist vocational qualification as a competence-based qualification, or a comparable previous qualification;
• a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, postgraduate licentiate or doctoral degree completed in Finland

Applicants must upload any required certificates or supporting documents to their application by 13 August 2026 at 15:00 (UTC+3, Finnish time) for the assessment of eligibility, if requested in the application form.

Admitted applicants are responsible for following the instructions provided and meeting all specified deadlines. Admission is always conditional until SEAMK has verified all information and documents relevant to the application, eligibility, and student selection process.

All study places will be allocated based on the entrance examination held in Seinäjoki on 10 August 2026.

The entrance examination assesses the applicant’s skills in mathematics, physics, and English. In addition, the entrance examinations for both Automation Engineering and Sustainable Food Processing include a field-specific section. Applicants complete either one or both of these specialized sections, depending on whether they have applied to only one or to both study options.

In order to participate in the entrance examination, applicants must bring with them their own writing instruments, calculator and MAOL tables or another equivalent table book. Remote participation in the examination is not possible.

Invitations to the entrance examination will be sent by 7 August 2026 to the email address provided by the applicant on the application form.

Your identity will be verified during registration for the entrance examination. Please make sure well in advance that you have a valid photo ID with you. Without an acceptable proof of identity, you will not be allowed to participate in the entrance examination.

The following documents are accepted as proof of identity:

• Passport
• Finnish photo identity card issued by the police
• Finnish driving licence
• Photo identity card issued by an EU/EEA country

An expired passport or identity card is also accepted if it expired no more than one year before the date of the entrance examination at SEAMK. However, you must still be clearly identifiable from the photograph on the document.

If you have special needs that should be considered when participating in the entrance examination, you can apply for individual arrangements.

Individual arrangements must be applied through SEAMK’s official E-form(Opens in a new window) by 7 August at 15:00 at the latest. Accessing the E-form requires strong electronic identification. As you are filling the form, please attach a medical certificate or other equivalent documentation specifying the nature of the injury or illness. Applications submitted without the required attachments will not be processed.

Admission results will be published on 12 August 2026 at the earliest. Applicants can view their admission status in the My Studyinfo service. Applicants who are offered a study place must accept it in the My Studyinfo service within 7 days of being admitted. For example, if you are admitted on 12 August 2026, you must accept the study place by 19 August 2026 at 3:00 p.m. (Finnish time, UTC+3). The exact deadline for accepting your study place can be checked in the My Studyinfo service. If you do not accept the study place by the deadline, you will forfeit it.

When accepting a study place, you must also register as a student by the same deadline. Applicants who are liable for tuition fees will automatically be registered as attending students once we have received and confirmed the first academic year’s tuition fee payment. Applicants who are exempt from paying tuition fees must register their attendance through the OILI registration service. Once you have accepted your study place bindingly in the My Studyinfo service, a link for proceeding to registration will appear on the screen.

According to the Universities of Applied Sciences Act (325/2015), first-year students may register as absent for the academic year only on statutory grounds.

You may register as absent electronically through the My Studyinfo service, but you must provide documentary evidence of the statutory reason for your absence as described below. A personal notification alone is not sufficient.

First-year students may only register as non-attending students due to statutory reason, i.e.

• completing military service, non-military service or women’s voluntary military service, or
• when the student needs time off his/her studies to take care of a child in regard to the child’s birth or adoption (14.1.2022/52), or
• if they are unable to begin studies owing to a medical condition or disability (Section 29 of Amendment 325/2015).
  • If a student registers as non-attending in the first semester due to a medical condition or disability, this will use up their right to register as a non-attending student  for one academic year (i.e. two semesters).
  • After that student cannot register as a non-attending student without a statutory reason during their study right time.

Documents for providing the statutory reason are:

1) When in active service in accordance with the Finnish Conscription Act, the Non-Military Service Act or the Women’s Voluntary Military Service Act

• order to report for service or a copy of a valid military passport

2) When the student needs time off his/her studies to take care of a child in regard to the child’s birth or adoption

• Kela’s certificate of decision regarding maternity, paternity or parental allowance period or, if the decision has not yet been received, a medical certificate regarding student’s own pregnancy.

3) When unable to begin studies owing to a medical condition or disability (only applicable to first-year students)

• sickness allowance decision, or if such decision has not been issued, a medical certificate. The medical certificate must indicate that the medical condition or disability prevents the person from beginning their studies.

Documentation verifying the statutory grounds for absence must be submitted by the deadline for accepting the study place. Documents must be provided in Finnish, Swedish, or English. If you have a statutory right to register as non-attending, you must submit the required documentation through the Documents page by the study place acceptance deadline. The form for submitting documents requires strong electronic identification. If you are unable to access it, you may also submit the document by email to tuitionfees(at)seamk.fi (use word SALATTU in the title of the email to secure to email).

If you fail to register by the deadline, you will lose your right to study (Universities of Applied Sciences Act, Section 29). Degree students are also required to pay the FSHS (Finnish Student Health Service) healthcare fee.

Admission is always conditional until SEAMK has verified all information and certificates relevant to the application, eligibility, and student selection process.

Applicants and admitted students are responsible for regularly monitoring the email address provided on their application form, reading all messages received, and complying with the instructions and deadlines given.

If copies of the required certificates are not submitted by the specified deadline, or if an admitted student has provided incorrect information and would not have been eligible for admission based on the correct information, the admission decision will be revoked. Admission may also be revoked after studies have already commenced.

If you have applied through more than one application round, you may still accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree that begins in the same academic term. More information about the one-study-place-per-term provision is available on the Studyinfo website.

If you believe that an error has occurred in the student selection process or in the application of the selection criteria, you may submit a written request for rectification no later than 14 days after the publication of the admission results by 3:00 p.m.

Before submitting a request for rectification, you should first carefully review the admission criteria for the relevant SEAMK study programme and contact SEAMK Admissions Services. If the matter is not resolved, you may then submit a written request for rectification regarding the admission decision.

To be admitted as a student, you must meet the requirements specified in SEAMK’s admission criteria and successfully complete the entrance examination. Please note that delays in obtaining requested certificates, postal delivery, or issues with your email service do not exempt you from the responsibility of submitting the required documents by the stated deadline.

The request for rectification must clearly specify:

• the decision for which rectification is being requested,
• how you believe the decision should be amended,
• the grounds on which the requested amendment is based, and
• the applicant’s personal and contact details.

Any documents supporting the request must be attached.
