SEAMK's new gym has been opened
SEAMK has opened a new gym. The gym complements the campus sports facilities and provides versatile opportunities for basic fitness training. The gym is available for use by SEAMK students and staff, and access requires a SEAMK access key.
The background and objectives of the gym are explained by Marika Kääriäinen, who was involved in the functional planning of the gym. According to her, the aim is to lower the threshold for everyday physical activity and to provide students and staff with an easily accessible option for basic fitness training.
“The new gym is intended for all members of the SEAMK community – both students and staff,” Kääriäinen says.
Planning for the new gym began around a year ago, when SEAMK’s physiotherapy team was informed of the need for a gym, as well as the constraints guiding its development.
“The goal was to create a space that serves everyone at SEAMK. You can come here to train hard or simply to try out what gym training feels like,” Kääriäinen continues.
SEAMK’s versatile sports facilities
In addition to the new gym, SEAMK’s other sports facilities remain unchanged. The campus’s previous gym is still available for use by students and staff. The gyms are open to students from 7.00 am to 9.00 pm. In addition, the outdoor gym on the campus area is freely accessible to everyone around the clock.
SEAMK aims to support the wellbeing of students and staff by providing easily accessible exercise options on campus.
