Celebration to Dr. Tapio Varmola

The opening ceremony of SeAMK’s academic year was held on Monday, September 7.

The ceremony was a celebration to Dr. Tapio Varmola, President and CEO of SeAMK, who retired on the first day of September and led the University of Applied Sciences from the beginning, since 1992.

Dr. Jaakko Hallila opened his first academic year as a President. He analysed SeAMK as being “an exceptionally well-run university of applied sciences in terms of its operations and results”.

“According to the Ministry’s performance indicators, Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences as a whole is the best university of applied sciences in Finland in its entirety”, Hallila said.

Paavo Rautiainen, the chairman of the student union SAMO, Ville Hautaluoma, the artist who painted the painting of Varmola, and Kati Ojaniemi, the chairman of the City Council of the City of Seinäjoki, spoke to Varmola, Hokkanen and Hallila.

The music of the ceremony was provided by the excellent Laitakaupungin Orkesteri.
