The SEAMK Direct Application for studies starting  in September 2027 starts 23 September 2026 at 08:00 Finnish time (UTC+2). Please note: the application period and the interview rounds may close earlier than the stated dates if all study places are filled before the official end date.

Detailed admission information

Apply using your completed degree’s grades that gives you general eligibility to higher education or an SAT test result. The admission will be based on the grades of the applicant’s previous studies (a degree or an SAT result), proven language skills and a successfully completed online interview conducted by SEAMK via Microsoft Teams. Information on application process

Applications will be processed in order of submission. Applicant must apply using a degree certificate or an SAT result. For a previously completed degree, the applicant must meet the grade demand of 60% of their overall average mark, English and mathematics in the degree certificate. The degree must grant them general eligibility to higher education. An applicant who applies with previous education must also have the required proof of their English language skills. If an applicant uses an SAT result, they must meet the demand of 1000 for the overall result, 500 for reading and writing and 500 for mathematics.

If the applicant meets this criteria, they will be invited to take part in an interview where their motivation, aptitude for studies and English language skills will be evaluated. The interview will be evaluated pass or fail. If the applicant succesfully passes the interview, they will be admitted to the degree programme they applied to.

Application fees

There will be an application fee when applying to higher education. Application fee is collected from applicants from countries outside EU/EEA. The application fee would not be charged for Finnish or EU citizens. Please read more about application fees at Studyinfo.fi.

Tuition fee schemes

Applicant must accept their study place within 7 days of admission and pay the tuition fee within 28 days of admission.

The admission results will be published after the interviews. Applicants will be notified of the admission result by email.

Applicants who accept their study place must also register as either attending or non-attending students for the 2027-2028 academic year. Those admitted who are required to pay tuition fees will only be registered as attending students upon payment of the fees. Please be aware that applying through educational agents or organizations does not provide any advantages in securing a study place.

Please take into consideration the One Study Place per Term -provision! A student may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland in education that begins in the same academic term. This rule applies to all higher education. Applicant can accept only one study place in a degree programme starting in autumn 2027 in a university of applied sciences or a university in Finland. The applicant must attach the following documents to their application form, when applying:

1. Final educational certificate or SAT result

Applying with your final educational certificate:

  • Upload your final educational certificate to the application form when applying. Make sure to include all the pages with the degree certificate that the degree was granted with, for example the transcript of records.

Applying with SAT result:

  • Please attach the SAT Score Report PDF downloaded from the College Board portal to the application form and submit an official SAT score report from the test organizer to be delivered straight to the SEAMK.

2. Translation of your degree certificate

A copy of an authorized Finnish, Swedish or English translation of the certificate must be provided, if the certificate is not written in one of these languages. Authorized translations must include the signature and the stamp of the translator.

3. Proof of English language skills

When applying, attach a copy of your language skills test as well as other required information, in regards to your proof of English language skills, to your application form. A test number for example.

4. Identification documents

Attach a valid passport to your application form.

The following documents are accepted as proof of identity in SEAMK Direct Application:

  • Passport
  • EU/EEA identity card (issued by a European Union / EEA country)

All applicants must upload a valid passport or EU/EEA identity card to their application form. The required identification document must be valid through 5 May 2027. Please note, that your application form will not be taken into consideration in the admission process, if you don’t submit the required proof of identity when applying.

Eligible applicants will be invited to take part in an online  interview. The interview will test the applicant’s motivation, aptitude for studies and English language skills. The interview will be evaluated pass or fail.

Interviews will be scheduled generally weekly, taking into account the statutory leave of staff. The interviews will be organized on Tuesdays. Results will be published the following day, on Wednesdays. Applicants will receive a notification a week before their interview date. Eligible applicants will be invited to the next possible interview slot. This may not be the first Tuesday following the submission of their application. The interview is a group interview. It lasts 45 minutes. The eligible applicants will be invited in the order of completed applications submitted. Direct application is a rolling admission; places are filled continuously.

Identity of applicants will be checked during the interview. Acceptable documents include the following valid identity documents:

  • passport
  • Finnish identity card with a photo, issued by police
  • Finnish driver’s licence
  • another EU/EEA country identity card with a photo

Also, an expired passport or identity card is accepted if its validity is expired on 8 May 2025 the latest.

We will send instructions and the invite to the online interview a few days before interview time via email.

How many times can I apply?

Applicant can only apply and be admitted to one degree programme at a time. Only one application will be considered at a time, which means that if an applicant submits several applications at a time, only the first one will be processed, and the others will be failed. Once your application has been processed and we have sent you a notification, you may send in a new application.

Further information on attachments

The applicant is liable to attach all of the required documents when applying. It is the applicants responsibility to make sure their eligibility can be verified from the documents they have submitted.

The applicant can modify their application until the application is taken for processing. No prior warning will be given to the applicant on when their application is processed.

SEAMK will not send request to deliver additional certificates or information if the applicant:

  • Has failed to attach one or all of the required certificates to their application form
  • The attached document does not fulfill the requirements to verify the certificate’s and/or document’s content or authenticity

Deadline to arrive to start your studies at SEAMK

New students who will be admitted to the studies beginning in the autumn 2027 must arrive at SEAMK Campus in Seinäjoki by the arrival deadline. The arrival deadline will be published in Autumn 2026. If students do not arrive by the given deadline and cannot present their original documents, their admission will be revoked.  

Original documents will be checked from admitted students

All new degree students who will be admitted to the English taught degree programmes at SEAMK, need to present their original documents when starting their studies. Original documents are compared to the documents which were attached to the application form. If the original documents are not presented by the given deadline or student has given false information, admission will be cancelled.
