SEAMK hosts the first HEROES Semi-Annual Meeting on May

The first HEROES Semi-Annual Meeting takes place from 20-22 May 2025 at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences. The meeting gathers more than 120 participants from each Work Package, including representatives from the Board of Presidents, Steering Committee, and Student Council to discuss and to work towards common goals.

European Universities alliance HEROES was launched in January at Thomas More University’s campus in Geel, Belgium. The partnership brings together the strengths of nine practice-oriented higher education institutions around Europe. Together, they focus on smart and digital innovation to make regions more resilient. The network is impressive: 120,000 students and 14,000 staff members, spread across 22 campuses in nine countries.
“We are super happy to host the first Semi-Annual Meeting in the spring-awakened splendor of Finland. The chance to engage face-to-face allows for a deeper connection and more productive discussions. To see many of our partners together, exchanging ideas and forging bonds, is incredibly rewarding”, says Ms. Marjo Arola, HEROES Project Manager at SEAMK – Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences
The programme includes keynote speeches, breakout sessions, and cross-work package meetings, along with evening activities such as a tour of the Aalto Center and a city reception. Welcoming words are presented by Jaakko Hallila, President/CEO of SEAMK, Piet van Hove, HEROES Program Manager and Sofie Mols, HEROES President
