Information for New Degree Students

This page contains information for new degree students, who are admitted in joint application spring 2020 to the following degree programmes:

– Bachelor of Business Administration, International Business
– Bachelor of Health Care, Nursing
– Master of Business Administration, International Business Management

If you are admitted in the Application with Open UAS studies, you will be sent information by email.

Information for students admitted in Direct Application spring 2020

Commencement of studies

The studies begin as follows:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, International Business: 1 September 2020 at 9.00
  • Bachelor of Health Care, Nursing: 24 August 2020
  • Master of Business Administration, International Business Management: 28 August 2020 at 16.00

The first days of studies include important orientation and therefore your attendance is important.

Accept the study place, pay the tuition fee and register for the academic year

To confirm the study place offered to you, you have to accept it by 17 July 2020, 15.00 (+3 GMT) at the latest. You will lose the study place if you do not accept it by the deadline. (Please note, that a new deadline has been given due to the COVID-19 situation, original deadline was 10.7.2020.) 

Pay the tuition fee by 10 July 2020, 15.00 (+3 GMT), if you are required to pay. Registration is not possible before the tuition fee is paid. If you are required to pay the tuition fee, you will be sent instructions on how to register after you have paid the tuition fee. If you don’t pay the tuition fee and register as instructed, you will lose your right to study. Pay the tuition fee online at:

When you accept the study place, you also need to register for the academic year 2020-2021 as an attending or non-attending student.

  • If you are required to pay the tuition fee: Please note, that registration for the academic year is not possible before the tuition fee is paid.
  • If you are not required to pay the tuition fee: Register for the academic year at the same time when accepting the study place.

Certificates of Master Degree Students

This information concerns only students admitted to the Master Degree Programme in Business Administration, International Business Management.

The certifi­­­­­cates that have had impact on the selection will be checked. The study place can be cancelled if you have given incorrect information when applying or if you don’t provide the certificates. The admission is conditional until the certificates are checked.

You need to send copies of your higher education degree certificate and testimonials of work experience by 22 July 2020, 15.00 (+3 GMT) at the latest to SeAMK Admission Services. Provide the documents with an electronic form at 

The student admission is conditional until the copies of the certificates have been checked. Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences will withdraw the admission, if the applicant does not provide his/her certificates by the deadline or if he/she has given inadequate or false information in the application process.

SeAMK Admission Services will send email to the email address you have given on the application form, if we have any questions on your certificates. Please check your email and the SPAM mail regularly.

Student apartment

The student apartments in the city of Seinäjoki are offered by Sevas Oy student housing-service. Fill in the online application form once you get this info to improve your chances of getting an apartment!

Personal laptop

It is required for new students to have a personal laptop for the duration of their studies. It is recommended that the laptop has an i5 processor with at least 8 GB of RAM. The recommended operating system is Windows 10. Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences offers an office productivity software (word processor, spreadsheet and presentation program) free of charge for the duration of studies. In addition, students are offered a free update to the latest Windows operating system version.

Students arriving from outside European Union

Residence permit for studies

If you are a citizen of a non-EU/EEA-country you will need to apply for a residence permit for studies. For the residence permit application you need to enclose the Notification of Student Selection (acceptance letter), an account of sufficient funds, an account of sufficient health insurance and a documentation of the paid tuition fee.

You can begin the student residence permit application online at Remember that you must personally visit a Finnish embassy or consulate as part of this process. Start your residence permit process as soon as possible, carefully following the immigration authorities’ instructions and regulations, so that you can receive your permit in good time before your studies begin!

NB! Missions of the Finnish Ministry for Foreign affairs have interrupted the receiving and processing of residence permit applications on 19 March 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

While outside Finland, you can still submit your application through the Finnish Immigration Service’s Enter Finland online service. Your application will be accepted for processing once the exceptional arrangements are no longer in effect and you have identified yourself.

Tuition fee and scholarships at SeAMK

Tuition fee is applicable to degree students who are not citizens of countries of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. The tuition fee at SeAMK is 7000 € (Bachelor degree programmes) and 8000 € (Master degree programme) for one academic year. At SeAMK all first year degree students, who are liable to pay tuition fee, will be automatically awarded a scholarship, which covers 30% of the tuition fee. The admitted student needs to pay the tuition fee on 10 July 2020, 15.00 (+3 GMT) at the latest. Registration for attendance for the academic year 2020-2021 is possible after the tuition fee is paid.

You are exempt from paying tuition fees if you provide one of the documents listed at to SeAMK Admission Services by 10 July 2020, 15.00 Finnish time.
