Information for New Degree Students

This page contains information for new degree students, who are admitted in joint application spring 2019 to the following Bachelor degree programmes:

– Bachelor of Business Administration, International Business
– Bachelor of Health Care, Nursing

Information for students admitted in Direct Application spring 2019

Commencement of studies

The studies begin on Monday 2 September 2019 at 9.00 am in the Frami F -building, at Frami, the central campus of SeAMK, address: Kampusranta 11, 60320 Seinäjoki. The first days of studies include important orientation and therefore your attendance is important.

Accept the study place, pay the tuition fee and register for the academic year

To confirm the study place offered to you, you have to accept it by 8 July 2019, 15.00 (+3 GMT) at the latest. You will lose the study place if you do not accept it by the deadline.

Pay the tuition fee by 8 July 2019, 15.00 (+3 GMT), if you are required to pay. Registration is not possible before the tuition fee is paid. If you are required to pay the tuition fee, you will be sent instructions on how to register after you have paid the tuition fee. If you don’t pay the tuition fee and register as instructed, you will lose your study entitlement. Pay the tuition fee online at: https://shop.seamk.fi/en/tuition-fees/new-students

When you accept the study place, you also need to register for the academic year 2019-2020 as an attending or non-attending student.

  • If you are required to pay the tuition fee: Please note, that registration for the academic year is not possible before the tuition fee is paid. If you don’t pay the tuition fee and register as instructed, you will lose your study entitlement.
  • If you are not required to pay the tuition fee: Register for the academic year at the same time when accepting the study place. If you don’t register as instructed, you will lose your study entitlement.

Certificates are checked

Universities of applied sciences check the educational certificates that have had impact on the selection. The admission is conditional until the certificates are checked.

1. You need to send copies of your certificates by 8 July 2019, 15.00 (+3 GMT) at the latest to SeAMK Admission Services. If you have attached your certificates to the application form already, you do not need to send them again. We will contact those who need to send their certificates. Provide the documents with an electronic form at  seamk.fi/documents

2. If you have registered for attendance, you need to provide your original certificates on the first day of studies. The certificates will be given back to you after the checking.

Deadline to arrive

If you have registered for attendance, but have major trouble arriving in Finland/starting your studies on 2 September, please contact the Admission Services. The definite deadline to arrive for the Nursing studies is 8 October 2019. For the International Business studies the definite deadline to arrive is 15 October 2019.

Note, however, that it is very important to be present from the start with the programme starting on 2 September.

Student apartment

The student apartments in the city of Seinäjoki are offered by Sevas Oy student housing-service. Fill in the online application form once you get this info to improve your chances of getting an apartment!

Personal laptop

It is required for new students to have a personal laptop for the duration of their studies. It is recommended that the laptop has an i5 processor with at least 8 GB of RAM. The recommended operating system is Windows 10. Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences offers an office productivity software (word processor, spreadsheet and presentation program) free of charge for the duration of studies. In addition, students are offered a free update to the latest Windows operating system version.

Students arriving from outside European Union

Residence permit for studies

If you are a citizen of a non-EU/EEA-country you will need to apply for a residence permit for studies. For the residence permit application you need to enclose the Notification of Student Selection (acceptance letter), an account of sufficient funds, an account of sufficient health insurance and a documentation of the paid tuition fee. Do apply for the residence permit electronically, online, to speed up the processing! Read the instructions first:

Tuition fee and scholarships at SeAMK

The tuition fee at SeAMK is 6.800 € for one academic year. At SeAMK all first year students, who are required to pay a tuition fee, are automatically granted a scholarship of 3.400 €. The admitted student needs to pay 3.400 € on 8 July 2019, 15.00 (+3 GMT) at the latest. Registration for attendance for the academic year 2019-2020 is possible after the tuition fee is paid.

You are exempt from paying tuition fees if you provide one of the documents listed at www.seamk.fi/tuitionfees to SeAMK Admission Services by 8 July 2019, 15.00 Finnish time.

Students arriving from outside Finland: In early August you will be asked about the date and time of your arrival. We will arrange a tutor student to meet you when you arrive in Seinäjoki.
