Applying to SEAMK Is Easy and Fully Online
On this page, we’ll guide you step by step—from choosing the right application route and submitting your application, to receiving your acceptance, and finally preparing for your move to Finland and your arrival in Seinäjoki. Most international bachelor degree applicants apply through SEAMK’s Direct Application opening in September. Bachelor degree programmes and masters programmes are also available through Finland’s national Joint Application, open for a short two‑week period each January, or through various seperate application periods during the year. All Applications to Seinäjoki University of Applied Science are submitted via Studyinfo.fi, Finland’s official higher education application portal.

Application Routes

Direct Application
SEAMK Direct Application(Opens in a new window) is the main application route for most international bachelor’s degree programmes delivered in English. The longer application period gives you more flexibility to apply. This route is for applicants who hold a diploma/degree certificate or SAT score and meet all the other admissions requirements.
Joint Application to Higher Education
The Joint Application(Opens in a new window) is a national application round shared by Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences. It is open once a year for a limited time.
The correct application route depends on the degree programme, so always check the programme-specific application details before applying.

How to apply
Bachelor degree programmes studies starting in Autumn of 2027:
- Bachelor of Business Administration, International Business
- Bachelor of Engineering, Automation Engineering
- Bachelor of Engineering, Sustainable Food Processing
- Bachelor of Health Care, Nursing
- Bachelor of Hospitality Management
Master degree programmes for studies starting in Autumn of 2027:
- Master of Business Administration, International Business Management
- Master of Social Services and Health Care, Development and Management
Who can apply?
Bachelor degree programmes require an upper/senior/higher secondary certificate that qualifies you for higher education in your home country. You can also be eligible based on your SAT score or a previous master’s or bachelor’s degree. Always check the degree programme eligibility criteria.
Master degree programmes require a completed bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant work experience after graduation.
Different application routes have different timelines; always follow the programme-specific instructions.

To be eligible for SEAMK’s international degree programmes, you must:
- Hold a qualification that provides eligibility for higher education studies in your own country.
- Provide proof of sufficient English language proficiency (for example, IELTS, TOEFL, or other accepted certificates), if needed.
- Meet any programme-specific admission criteria, such as previous degree or work experience requirements for master degree programmes.
Always check you meet the Admission criteria for the degree programme applying to.
Check you have all the documents needed for admissions to your choosen degree programme.
- Upper/senior or higher secondary school or higher degree certificate.
- Official translation (must include translator’s stamp and signature) in either English, Finnish or Swedish if the documents are in another language.
- Proof of English language proficiency, if needed.
- Copy of passport or ID card
- And/or other documents required in your selected admission
Submit the application and attach all documents before the deadline and pay the application fee.
Applicants from outside EU/EEA/Switzerland are required to pay an application fee to apply to higher education (paid at the time of application submission). application fee info

Some programmes admissions processes include online exams, courses or interviews; monitor your email and prepare your technical setup (e.g., laptop, camera and microphone).
Results are published in the application portal on Studyinfo.fi; accepted applicants must confirm acceptance in the portal by the deadline provided.
If you do not accept (confirm) the study place by the deadline, you will lose the place.

The tuition fee must be paid in one installment at the time of accepting your study place in a SEAMK degree programme.

Next steps after accepting your study place
To study in a degree programme in Finland you need to apply for a residence permit if your a non-EU/EEA applicant. The application is submitted online in Enter Finland.
You can begin the student residence permit application online at Enterfinland.fi(Opens in a new window).
Remember that you must personally visit a Finnish embassy or consulate as part of this process.
Start your residence permit process as soon as possible, carefully following the immigration authorities’ instructions and regulations, so that you can receive your permit in good time before your studies begin!

Begin your housing search as soon as your study place is confirmed. Student apartments are available through Sevas Kodit – Student Housing Association(Opens in a new window) and other private providers.

Living in Seinäjoki is affordable compared to many other student cities in Finland. Student housing is available from the Student Housing association Sevas at reasonable prices, however housing from the private sector is an option with sufficient funds.
