How to apply as an international applicant

Our bachelor degree programmes provide students with the skills for tomorrow’s working life, while master degree programmes deepen professional competence and leadership abilities.

Who can apply?

Bachelor degree programmes require an upper/senior/higher secondary certificate that qualifies you for higher education in your home country. You can also be eligible based on your SAT score or a previous master’s or bachelor’s degree. Check the eligibility criteria for more exact information in Studyinfo.fi.(Opens in a new window)

Master degree programmes require a completed bachelor’s degree and at least two years of relevant work experience after graduation.

There are several different applications for international applicants. Here are two of them:

  1. Joint Application – For applicants applying to several Finnish universities and universities of applied sciences with one single application form through Studyinfo.fi.(Opens in a new window)

To be eligible for SEAMK’s international degree programmes, you must:

  • Hold a qualification that provides eligibility for higher education studies in your own country.
  • Provide proof of sufficient English language proficiency (for example, IELTS, TOEFL, or other accepted certificates), if needed.
  • Meet any programme-specific admission criteria, such as previous degree or work experience requirements for master degree programmes.

We advise you to make a budget for your studies and inform yourself about application fees, tuition fees and student life in Finland.

Application fee

Applicants who are not citizens of the EU, EEA or Switzerland are required to pay an application fee (100 €) to apply to higher education studies. Applicants pay the application fee in connection with filling the application form. Application fee covers all applications to studies starting in the same academic term. Tuition fees

Students admitted in 2025 and 2026 will be charged the following tuition fees at Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences:

  • Bachelor’s degree programmes conducted in English: 9500 € per academic year
  • Master’s degree programmes conducted in English: 11 500 € per academic year

Please note that students also need to pay for their own living costs. Further information on the income requirements for students can be found on the Finnish Immigration Service’s website(Opens in a new window).

Cost of living

Living in Seinäjoki is affordable compared to many other student cities in Finland. Student housing is available from the Student Housing association Sevas at reasonable prices, however housing from the private sector is an option with sufficient funds.

Scholarships

Early Bird Scholarship

Students admitted in 2025 and 2026 can receive a 10% Early Bird discount on the first-year tuition fee.

In addition, continuing students can receive a 10% Early Bird discount on the annual tuition fee if they pay the fee for the entire next academic year during 1–31 March.

Language Proficiency Scholarships

Continuing bachelor degree students can receive scholarships for developing their Finnish language skills.

Before applying through Studyinfo.fi(Opens in a new window), please first check the admission criteria there and ensure you have all the required documents ready.

  • Upper/senior or higher secondary school or higher degree certificate.
  • Official translation (must include translator’s stamp and signature) in either English, Finnish or Swedish if the documents are in another language.
  • Proof of English language proficiency, if needed.
  • Copy of passport or ID card
  • and/or other documents required in your selected admission
  • Submit your application through Studyinfo.fi(Opens in a new window)
  • Remember to attach all required documents before the deadline
  • Pay the application fee
  • Some programmes include an entrance examination or an online interview. Follow the instructions for the admission criteria and contact admissions@seamk.fi if you have any questions.

Entrance exams and interviews are usually conducted online. Remember to check your email regularly for invitations and further instructions, and make sure to test your technical setup in advance, including your internet connection and the necessary software (for example, Microsoft Teams).

Also check the admission criteria to ensure you meet all the required qualifications.

Admission results are published on Studyinfo.fi, but you’ll also receive a notification of student selection also by email.

If you disagree with the result, contact admissions@seamk.fi within 14 days of receiving notification of student selection. Find more information about the subject on the application period pages, for example here under Request for correction.

If you get selected as a student in SEAMK, remember to accept your offered study place via Studyinfo.fi by the deadline mentioned in your acceptance letter.

If you do not accept the study place by the deadline, you will lose the place.

First year degree students need to pay the tuition fee at the same time when accepting the study place. The tuition fee must be paid in one installment.

Visit the Before arrival webpage and check the start date of your studies, as well as the deadlines for arrival and for presenting your educational certificates.

You can begin the student residence permit application online at Enterfinland.fi(Opens in a new window).

Remember that you must personally visit a Finnish embassy or consulate as part of this process.

Start your residence permit process as soon as possible, carefully following the immigration authorities’ instructions and regulations, so that you can receive your permit in good time before your studies begin!

Begin your housing search as soon as your study place is confirmed. Student apartments are available through Sevas Kodit Oy(Opens in a new window) and other private providers.
