Seinäjoki UAS was awarded an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2014-2020 by the European Commission.
The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) provides the general quality framework for European and international cooperation activities a higher education institution (HEI) may carry out within the new Erasmus+ Programme in 2014-2020. The award of an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education is a pre-requisite for all HEIs located in an eligible country and willing to participate in learning mobility of individuals and/or cooperation for innovation and good practices under the Erasmus+ Programme.
Only the Charter holders can apply for funding from the EU-programmes and make the Inter-Institutional Agreements with other HEI’s in eligible countries. Student and staff mobility within the Europe continues to be an important part of the programme; student and staff members of Seinäjoki UAS can apply for grants for the Erasmus-mobility.
Annually, about 500 students of Seinäjoki UAS conduct a part of their studies abroad, and the same number of international degree and mobility students study at Seinäjoki UAS. About half of the staff members work abroad every year and Seinäjoki UAS hosts approximately 200 international lecturers and researches annually. During the past Erasmus- programme 2007-2013, Seinäjoki UAS got over 2 million euros for the Erasmus mobility activities.
